Seit Januar 2022 spiele ich live ausschließlich Hagstrom-Gitarren – aber warum eigentlich?
1. Sound, der alles kann – und das ohne Kompromisse!
Egal, ob ich meine Fantomen oder meine Ultra Swede spiele – die Dinger klingen fett! Druckvoll, detailliert und trotzdem schön klar. Selbst im High-Gain-Bereich bleiben Akkorde transparent, weil die String-Separation einfach brutal gut ist.
Und Flexibilität? Kein Problem!

🎸 Twangige Cleans? Jep, auch das.
Dank des H-Expander-Trussrods (kommt später noch) und hochwertiger Verarbeitung haben meine Hagstroms außerdem Sustain ohne Ende, ohne sich in unkontrolliertem Feedback zu suhlen. Laut, aber kontrolliert – genau wie ich’s mag!
2. Dynamik – weil ich keine Lust auf Pedale hab!
Ich liebe Single-Channel-Amps (auch, wenn ich live meist Multi-Channel spiele). Ein Kanal, kein Schnickschnack, kein Rumgeklicke mit Pedalen – einfach Gitarre rein, Gas geben, fertig. Dafür brauche ich eine reaktionsfreudige Gitarre, die clean wird, wenn ich das Volume runterdrehe, aber nicht dumpf klingt.
Hagstrom hat da ein geniales Feature:
👉 R/C-Schaltung in den Volumepotis – Höhen bleiben erhalten, selbst wenn ich leiser drehe!
Sprich: Ich kann mein Volume runterregeln, ohne dass mein Sound matschig wird. Das ist simpel – aber sauwichtig!
3. Der Hagstrom-Sound: Dunkel, aber klar. Böse, aber präzise.
Klingt widersprüchlich? Nö, ist geil!
Hagstrom-Gitarren haben eine ganz eigene Klangfarbe – dunkel, atmosphärisch, aber gleichzeitig super differenziert.
Live setzt sich der Sound perfekt durch, ohne dass ich ihn im Mix mit übertriebener Höhenbetonung „schönreden“ muss. Wer einmal eine gut eingestellte Hagstrom gespielt hat, weiß genau, was ich meine!
4. Bespielbarkeit – wie Butter auf heißem Toast!
🔹 Hals: Liegt wie angegossen in der Hand – nicht zu dünn, nicht zu fett.
🔹 Bünde: Perfekt abgerichtet, mega Feedback beim Spielen.
🔹 Saitenlage: Perfekt für beides – Shredden UND Riff-Massaker.
🔹 Grip: Auch mit schwitzigen Fingern rutsche ich nicht weg, bleibe aber auch nicht kleben.
Meine Hagstroms fühlen sich „bretthart“ an – aber auf die geile Art!
5. Verarbeitung – Das Ding hält. Punkt.
Klingt gut, spielt sich gut – aber taugt das auch live? Ja.
✔ Mechaniken: Stimmen zuverlässig wie eine Schweizer Uhr – aber mit mehr Verzerrung.
✔ Pickups: Sitzen fester als ein Bierglas in der Hand eines durstigen Rockers.
✔ Potis: Kein Kratzen, kein Genöle.
✔ Lack: Makellos – selbst nach Bühnen-Schweiß und Bierregen!
Und jetzt wird’s spannend: Bei Hagstroms mit geleimtem Hals geht der Hals bis unter den Neck-Pickup. Dadurch ist die Konstruktion massiv stabil – keine Sollbruchstellen wie bei manch anderen berühmten Marken (die hier nicht namentlich genannt werden… 😉).
Dann gibt’s noch zwei geniale, unsichtbare Features:
- H-Expander Trussrod – Ein H-förmiger Alustab im Hals, der das Ding verwindungssteif macht und Deadspots killt.
- Resinator Griffbrett – Ein spezielles Verbundholz, das den Klang noch gleichmäßiger und stabiler macht als manche Tropenhölzer.
Langlebig, präzise – genau mein Ding!
6. Optik – Wiedererkennungswert!
Hagstrom-Gitarren erkennt man sofort – und das ist geil.

Meine Fantomen ist meine Hauptgitarre – und sieht bei mir (1,83 groß, 140 Kilo Elfen-gleiche Anmutung, lange Haare) genau so aus, wie eine Gitarre aussehen sollte! Kräftig, aber elegant.
Dagegen wirkt meine Ultra Swede wie eine Ukulele in meinen Händen – und genau das ist der Grund, warum ich sie liebe! Kompakt, super transportabel, und trotzdem ein Biest.
7. Der Preis – Viel Gitarre für wenig Geld!
Hagstrom spielt definitiv in der Profiklasse – aber der Preis sagt was anderes.
Die meisten Modelle liegen weit unter 1000€ – und damit meine ich nicht 949€, sondern wirklich 500-850€.
Für diese Qualität? Unschlagbar.
8. Das Wichtigste: Die Menschlichkeit hinter der Marke.
Es gibt Gitarrenmarken (deren Namen ich nicht nenne…), die ich als Musiker und als ehemaliger Musikladen-Besitzer als unfassbar arrogant kennengelernt habe.
Bei Hagstrom? Ganz anders.
Ich bin kein Weltstar mit 15 Platin-Alben – aber trotzdem wurde ich herzlich in der Hagstrom-Familie aufgenommen.

2. Dynamic Response – Because I Hate Stomping on Pedals!
I love single-channel amps (even though I mostly play multi-channel setups live). One channel, no unnecessary frills, no pedal tap-dancing – just plug in, crank it up, and let it rip.
For that, I need a super responsive guitar that cleans up when I roll back the volume but doesn’t lose clarity.
Hagstrom has a brilliant feature for that:
👉 R/C-circuit in the volume pots – keeps the high end intact, even when you turn the volume down!
That means I can roll back the volume for clean sounds without my tone turning into a muddy mess. Simple – but a total game-changer!
3. The Hagstrom Sound: Dark Yet Clear. Evil Yet Precise.
Sounds contradictory? Nope, it’s just badass!
Hagstrom guitars have their own distinct character – dark, atmospheric, yet razor-sharp and articulate.
In a live setting, the sound cuts through the mix effortlessly – no need to crank the treble just to be heard. If you’ve ever played a properly dialed-in Hagstrom, you know exactly what I mean!
4. Playability – Like Butter on Hot Toast!
🔹 Neck: Feels perfect in the hand – not too thin, not too chunky.
🔹 Frets: Super smooth, with excellent feedback.
🔹 Action: Low enough for shredding, high enough for chunky riffs.
🔹 Grip: Even with sweaty fingers, I don’t slip – but I also don’t get stuck.
My Hagstroms feel solid as a rock – but in the best way possible!
5. Build Quality – Built to Last. Period.
Great tone, great playability – but can it survive the road? Absolutely.
✔ Tuners: Stay in tune better than a GPS on a straight road.
✔ Pickups: Locked in tighter than a cold beer in a thirsty rocker’s hand.
✔ Pots: No scratching, no whining.
✔ Finish: Still flawless – even after sweat, beer, and stage abuse!
And here’s the real kicker: On Hagstrom set-neck guitars, the neck extends all the way under the neck pickup. That means the construction is rock solid – no weak spots like some “big name” brands we won’t mention here… 😉
Then there are two hidden but genius features:
- H-Expander Trussrod – A H-shaped aluminum truss rod that reinforces the neck, preventing warping and dead spots.
- Resinator Fingerboard – A unique composite wood that’s more stable and consistent than some tropical woods.

8. The Most Important Part: The People Behind the Brand.
There are some guitar brands (not naming names…) that I’ve dealt with over the years – both as a musician and back when I ran my own music shop – and let’s just say… some of them ooze arrogance.
Hagstrom? Completely different.
I’m not some world-famous musician with 15 platinum albums, but they still welcomed me with open arms.
